Unmanned Aerial Vehicles with a weight of 100g or more are subject to restrictions under the revised Civil Aeronautics Law. In addition, there are places where flying an unmanned aircraft weighing less than the above weights may be in violation of the Law Concerning the Prohibition of Flying of Small Unmanned Aircraft, etc. Therefore, it is necessary to fly with caution.

Flight Prohibition Law for Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, etc.

It is a law concerning the prohibition of flying small unmanned aerial vehicles, etc. over the area around important facilities. Unlike the restrictions of the revised Aviation Law, unmanned aerial vehicles weighing less than 100g are also eligible. In principle, it is prohibited to fly small unmanned aerial vehicles, etc. over important facilities and the surrounding area of about 300m. The Law for Prohibiting Flight of Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles is under the jurisdiction of the Public Safety Commission, not the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, so please check with the police station in your jurisdiction for details.

Depending on the shooting location (e.g., in national forests or national parks), prior application and notification may be required, so you must confirm the location well in advance of your flight. You must register with the MLIT's Drone Information Infrastructure System (FISS) in advance of your flight.
